10K Health Walk and Kids Obstacle Course

Join us this Saturday for the 2nd annual Not Your Average Joe 10K/Health Walk and kids obstacle course fundraiser. Proceeds go towards local charities and the Joe Gibson Memorial Foundation.

In December of 2009, while on a training run, Dr. Joseph Gibson, a Phoenix Emergency Physician, was struck by a car and killed. In the wake of that tragedy, the Joe Gibson Memorial Foundation was formed to remember Joe and the great personal qualities and enthusiasm that he brought to the world.

The Joe Gibson Memorial Foundation debuted the event last year and raised funding to purchase AED’s for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department, help augment the healing garden at Estrella Medical Center, as well as fund a summer camp for at risk youth.

This year’s race will be at Encanterra Country Club in San Tan Valley, Arizona, along the community’s beautiful grounds and cart paths of the golf course. For those who don’t want to run 6.2 miles, there will be a 2 mile health walk available. For the kids, local fire departments are settting up an EMS obstacle with special fun prizes. Multiple vendors will also be present for a Health and Wellness Expo.

Kids care is available for parents who want to run the race and parking is available right near the race start. All participants will receive a special race t-shirt and other goodies at the start and finish.
